What is hair transplantation?

It is the process of transferring the hair follicles taken from the areas where the hair is dense (nape above the two ears) to the balding areas. Follicular Unit extraction, also known as Follicular Unit Excision (FUE) is the only method possible to have hair that grows and does not fall out for life. It is a method in which follicular unit is removed and transferred to balding areas without cutting and suturing from the nape and over the ear area where the hair roots are dense. Therefore, this method is known as non-surgical hair transplantation. In this method, the roots are taken with the help of a specially designed tip structure, lumen needles of different diameters and a special device called FUE motor to which this needle is attached. Roots are placed one by one into the micro channels opened to the planting area. Planted hair begins to grow slowly from the third month. Almost all of them come out between the months 10-12. The resulting hair is not shed for life. Although FUE method is preferred, FUT method may be required in some cases. Hair transplantation can be applied not only for baldness but also to increase the density of hair in the diluted areas.

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) is a hair restoration technique, also known as the strip procedure, where a patient's hair is transplanted in naturally occurring groups of 1 to 4 hairs, called follicular units. In both FUE and FUT hair transplant techniques, healthy hair grafts are placed into tiny incisions in the areas of the scalp affected by hair loss. The difference is in how these grafts are harvested. The main difference between FUT and FUE hair transplants is that in FUT the surgeon removes a strip of donor skin from which to extract individual follicular units to be transferred to the areas of hair loss, whereas in FUE individual follicular units are excised directly from the scalp.
